Cheers to the next decade!
My Son turned 10!
I can remember how afraid I was to bring him home from the hospital. I was so nervous about becoming a mother. What if I drop him or what if I forget him somewhere? I was so concerned about not forgetting him that one day after I made sure that I had him, I forgot my groceries in Publix’s parking lot. LOL.
And here we are, 10 years later and it’s still so hard for me to believe, that I have a whole 10 year old!
Never did I think that I’d be raising a young black male in this type of political climate. One of such hate, racism and social injustice.
I hope that the outcome of this election keeps his value and worth as a young black man front and center. He should also be protected and not feared.
I know that this year has been tough for him because not only has he experienced a pandemic in his life time, he’s seen so much. However, God hears our prayers and this pandemic will soon be over. Life, as we know it, will soon be back to normal.
I hope that the next decade of his life be some of the most progressive that he and this nation has ever seen.
Cheers to the next decade!
